From Speaking to Su Beng, to Speaking on Su Beng

Tuesday, February 12, 2013:

I called to Su Beng last night to wish him a belated happy lunar new year and to see how he's been. Judging by all the activity on Facebook it looks like he's been plenty busy. I can barely keep up with it all. If you'd like to know what he's up to friend him on Facebook. You can find him here: https://www.facebook.com/su.beng.3

He and the Taiwan Independence Action motorcade have been out en force at major demonstrations and protests in Taiwan.

On January 27, 2013 Su Beng had over 70 people at his apartment to have lun pian (aka lumpia, or lunbian)- which is a sort of Taiwanese summer roll. Customarily eaten before the Lunar New Year.

Most recently he's been out talking and promoting a Chinese biography of his life. The book is called 史明口述史, which translates as The Oral History of Su Beng. It was written by three Taiwan National University students and was released on February 4th.

On Friday, February 15th I've been invited to speak at the 20th annual ITASA (Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association) about my writing and Su Beng. I am honored to have been asked to speak at the conference because I was one of the people involved with the formation of ITASA 20 years ago! The topic of my talk is "Getting on the Path to Write." It's scheduled at 4:00pm on the 18th floor of the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York.
